Dear Resident
A man has been jailed in connection with a series of offences committed in Hemel Hempstead. On Thursday 14 August, 2025, a call was made to police reporting a residential garage in the Hemel central area had been burgled. Fifteen bottles of aged whiskey and scotch were taken, along with various other items. Power tools were also removed from a shed. Following fast time house-to-house and CCTV enquiries, detectives from the Dacorum Crime Investigation Department (CID) discovered further theft offences in the same area. Scott Morris, aged 51, of no fixed address, was identified as the suspect and arrested the following day, before being charged with: • Burglary • Theft • Theft from a motor vehicle He initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea on the day of his trial and was sentenced to 32 months imprisonment at Luton Crown Court on Tuesday (10 February). Detective Constable Grace Dennis, who led the investigation, said: “Our team worked quickly to gather evidence and identify a suspect, making an arrest the next day and subsequently securing charges. I’m pleased that there has been a positive outcome, with Morris receiving a deserved prison sentence. “I hope this serves as a warning to others that we will do everything we can to investigate, bring offenders to justice and provide reassurance to our communities.”
